We are all looking for comfort at Christmas time, but as God’s people we have the greatest comfort available to us – the Holy Spirit. Jesus came at Christmas as the one who would “baptize … with the Holy Spirit.” (Mark 1:8).

Jesus knows all of our needs before we even tell him. He is not distant; he is near and able to touch us.

Jesus Christ came into this world to set us free. This freedom is sometimes misunderstood but Jesus made it clear that if we truly continue to follow his teaching, we will know the truth, and the truth sets us free from our sin to be everything God purposed us to be. This is true freedom.

The people of Jerusalem were divided over the question of Jesus’ identity: Was he the promised Messiah? Jesus came with authority from the Father and would ultimately lay down his life for the people. Jesus is the only way to the Father: Jesus is the Christ.
