Summary

A key verse in the wisdom literature of the Old Testament is Proverbs 3:5, which tells us to ” trust in the LORD with all our hearts and not to rely on our own understanding “. This is one of the most challenging aspects of Christianity. It requires a surrender of ourselves to the lordship of Jesus Christ and a willingness to do whatever he says even when we do not understand. Unreasonable faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives producing “the meekness of wisdom” [James 3:13] and unlocking the door to the kingdom of heaven.
