Summary

God chooses people to glorify his name but he allows them to be tested by Satan so that they know their weakness and can truly give glory to God. Job was a righteous man, blameless in his generation but God knew that in order for Job to glorify him he would need to go through a fiery ordeal. The same was true for Simon Peter who is finally used by God to bring great glory to his name but who needed to be searched by Satan and found wanting in order for Jesus to reveal the depths of his love for Peter.
